Why Use Our Perplexity Extractor?
Citations Preserved as Text
Inline citation numbers [1], [2], etc. come through in the export. The clickable source links don't embed, but the numbered references stay intact for manual re-verification.
Works With Any Focus Mode
Academic, Writing, YouTube, Reddit — Focus modes change which sources Perplexity searches, not the share link format. Threads from any Focus export the same way.
Research Workflow Friendly
Export as .md to drop into Notion or Obsidian. Use the numbered citations as a checklist to re-verify sources independently — useful for anything you plan to cite.
Multiple Formats
Download as .txt, .md, .json, or .html — pick the format that fits where you're archiving the thread.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do citation numbers survive the export?
The inline citation numbers [1], [2], etc. come through as plain text. The clickable source links and the full source list at the bottom of Perplexity's answer don't embed in the export — they're rendered by Perplexity's frontend, not stored in the share link. Save the source URLs separately if you need to re-verify claims later.
What's the difference between Perplexity Free, Pro, and Enterprise?
Free gives you basic search with fewer sources. Pro ($20/month) unlocks more thorough research, longer threads, and the ability to attach files. Enterprise adds team features and admin controls. This tool works with share links from any tier — the URL format doesn't change based on your subscription.
Does this work with Perplexity Focus modes?
Yes, but Focus mode settings (Academic, Writing, YouTube, Reddit, etc.) affect which sources Perplexity searches — they don't change the share link format. A thread started in Academic Focus and one in default mode export identically. The export captures whatever Perplexity found, regardless of the Focus filter you used.
Why are some threads not shareable?
Perplexity only allows sharing threads from the default search mode. Threads started through API access, Collections, or certain enterprise configurations may not have the Share button available. If you don't see a Share option on a thread, it can't be exported through this tool — try Perplexity's own thread settings or the API export instead.
