Why can't I share a Gemini conversation from Google Docs?
Gemini shows up in three places: the standalone app at gemini.google.com, the Workspace side panel inside Docs/Gmail/Sheets, and as the Android assistant. Only the standalone app generates shareable links. The side panel version is tied to the document — use the document's own export options to save that output.
Does this pull from Google Takeout data?
No — Takeout and this tool serve different purposes. Takeout dumps your entire Google activity history as raw JSON, which is hard to read. This tool gives you one clean, readable file from a single share link. Use Takeout for legal archiving; use this when you need a specific conversation in a usable format.
Will Gemini's image generations come through?
The text surrounding the image — what you asked for and Gemini's description of what it created — exports normally. The generated images themselves don't embed in the export file. Right-click and save them from the original conversation before sharing, or they'll be lost.
Does this work with Gemini Advanced (the paid tier)?

How do I get a Gemini share link in the first place?
Open any conversation at gemini.google.com or in the Gemini mobile app. Tap the Share icon, select Share publicly, and copy the link. The URL will look like gemini.google.com/share/.... Private conversations don't generate share links — you must explicitly enable public sharing first.
Can I paste the export directly into a Google Doc?
You can paste .txt content directly and it'll work fine. For Markdown, you'll need to reformat since Google Docs doesn't render raw markdown — headers won't auto-convert and code blocks lose styling. The .html option preserves the most formatting if you open it in a browser first and copy from there.
Does Gemini keep conversations indefinitely?
Gemini retains conversations according to your Google activity settings (default: 18 months). Conversations can also disappear if Google flags content policy violations. Export anything important now — don't assume it'll be there later. This is especially true for technical conversations where a single policy filter can nuke the whole thread.
