Frequently Asked Questions
How are Artifacts handled in the export?
Each Artifact is captured as a separate block in the export with its title and content. Code Artifacts come through as formatted code. Interactive components (React apps, dashboards) export as source code, not running software — Claude can't render the live version, so you get the raw code instead.
Can I export an entire Claude Project?
This tool extracts one conversation at a time via its share link. For a full Project backup (all conversations and uploaded files), use Claude's built-in export at Settings → Account → Export Data. That sends you a ZIP with everything in raw JSON — less readable but comprehensive.
Does Claude's system prompt show up in the export?
No. System prompts are invisible to the share link — Anthropic doesn't expose them. You'll see the user messages and Claude's responses, but the hidden instructions that shaped Claude's behavior aren't included. This is by design on Anthropic's end, not a limitation of this tool.
Why is Claude's export larger than I expected?
Claude conversations can run extremely long — Claude supports 200K token context windows, and people often paste entire codebases or research documents into a single thread. The export captures everything. If the file is huge, try .txt instead of .json to strip formatting overhead.
Does this work with Claude Team or Enterprise accounts?
Yes, as long as the conversation has a public share link. Team and Enterprise accounts have the same Share button. Some organizations restrict sharing — if the Share button is missing or greyed out, your admin has disabled it and you'll need to use Claude's official export instead.
